Mirabo Press is thrilled to announce our upcoming exhibition, Interlude: New Work by Monica Angle & Beth Munro. The work on display is a mix of individual pieces by each artist as well as collaborative prints made while in residence at Mirabo. Angle and Munro create the elements of these collaborative works separately and then combine them in new ensembles, reimagining the elements as parts of new, unified visions.
The exhibition is full of prints that have evolved over the past year while the artists shared time together in our studio. The resulting work is an intriguing look at what happens when artists share a space, materials, and play off of each others’ approaches to making. In her individual practice, Angle is interested in the way we remember the spaces we inhabit, and references this through gestural images made via monotype and collage. Her work often displays soft, abstract shapes in gentle colors, and often evokes memories of landscape and mapping. Munro’s practice leans toward exploring patterns through layers of vibrant color. Her paintings, collages, and monotypes are sometimes abstract, and other times represent objects and scenes from daily life.
The collaborative work Angle and Munro make brings out the similarities between the two - a tendency to create images and build color through layering and a spontaneous, responsive approach. We hope you’ll join us for an opening celebration on Friday, May 2nd, from 5:30 - 8:30pm.
